The
Second Starting
on December 6 and ending on December 9, under the supervision of the The
sessions of this “Arab Nonviolent Network General Assembly Constituent
Meeting”—with the objective of supporting and reinforcing Middle Eastern
organizations that are trying to implement nonviolent strategies to transform
conflicts in their countries, and with participants from around 57 nonviolent
Arab groups and organizations from Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon,
for the purpose of creating an “Arab Nonviolent Network”—will focus on: -
1. Finding joint
definitions for basic concepts and sharing different views on nonviolence,
trying to define a common vision that will provide a basis for the creation of
the Network. -
2. Writing the “Mission
Statement of the Network,” clarifying a common strategy and goals and
developing the structure of the Network. -
3. Discussing how to
promote nonviolence and popular resistance in the region, taking into
consideration nonviolent strategies and training plans already developed by
pioneer experiences in this region, and planning, if possible, a common future
action. -
4. Establishing working
groups and electing the “Steering Committee” of the Network. The
